End to recording of pupils’ nationality
Schools will no longer collect data on their pupils’ nationality and country of birth following an about-turn by the Government.
The Department for Education (DFE) is expected to write to schools outlining its plans to remove the controversial categories from the school census, which takes place three times a year.
It follows a campaign by the human rights charity Liberty and the group Against Borders For Children, who launched an appeal against the High Court’s initial refusal to allow them to take the case to judicial review.
