Dressing the part

-

SIR – I hope Prince Harry follows the example of his brother when choosing the uniform for his wedding day.

It is understood that Prince William chose the uniform of the Irish Guards not simply because it was more attractive than his flight lieutenant RAF dress, but also to reflect his senior rank as colonel.

Having recently been appointed captain general of the Royal Marines, Prince Harry should be encouraged to wear this uniform. Very few are aware that his rank is equivalent to field marshal and, as such, he outranks all other members of the Royal Family, with the exception of his father and grandfather.

It’s recommended that he wait until after the honeymoon before qualifying for his Commando green beret. Captain David Wixon RN (retd) Yelverton, Devon
