Harman accepts Tory hacker’s apology
♦ Harriet Harman, the former Labour deputy leader, has said that a senior Conservative who hacked into her website before she became an MP should not face a police investigation.
Kemi Badenoch, a vice-chairman of the Conservative Party, was reported to the police after she admitted in an interview that she had hacked into Ms Harman’s website. “I changed all the stuff in there to say nice things about the Tories,” said Ms Badenoch. The incident took place a decade ago when Ms Badenoch was 28 and long before she became a Conservative candidate.
Ms Harman said: “It was wrong but it was mischievous rather than malicious. She’s apologised. The Met, I’m sure, have more important things to be doing right now.”
