Visitors barred

SIR – A friend in his fifties, suffering with dementia, is being looked after in a hospital on the Sussex-hampshire border. To visit him, we would be ushered to a side room and he would be brought to see us.

Sadly, he has now lost mobility and we are not permitted to see him, as he cannot walk to the side room. We are barred from going to his living area.

Are there other hospitals that practise these visiting arrangements?
