Isil jihadist ‘in plot to kill police and soldiers in UK’
A MEMBER of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (Isil) cell nicknamed ‘The Beatles’ is suspected of helping to hatch a plot to murder soldiers and police officers in London via drive-by killings on mopeds, it has emerged.
Alexanda Kotey is thought to have schemed with associates in London while allegedly carrying out beheadings of Western hostages 3,000 miles away in Raqqa, Syria.
He is believed to have helped organise a terror attack in Shepherd’s Bush, close to where he grew up.
However, the plot was foiled by Scotland Yard detectives in 2014. Kotey is suspected of guiding and funding the would-be attackers and was in regular communication with Tarik Hassane, jailed for his part in the plot in 2016.
Speaking to ITV News, a source in Syria said: “I was told that Kotey was in direct contact with Hassane. He was the main source of inspiration for the plot. He helped direct the plot, telling them what to do.”
It is thought that details of Kotey’s alleged involvement in the plot will be outlined when he goes to trial.
