Burglars not pursued

-

sir – Your front-page report “Police abandon two in three burglary victims as crime soars” (April 7) was no surprise to me.

I provided the police with clear CCTV footage of two women coming into my driveway and going behind the garage to the back gate. The footage of them leaving clearly showed their car and registration number. All the police had to do was check the registration number with the DVLA, approach the owner of the vehicle and ask for an explanation.

All they said was: “The registration alone, on this occasion, does not allow us to identify these females.”

Is it any wonder that very few people can find a good word to say about the police? Elayne M Benjamin
