Why bomb chemical dumps? Neutralising arms

Due to the very nature of chemical weapons, using traditional bombs and missiles would spread lethal agents over a wide area, meaning more casualties. The Pentagon’s Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) has developed two “agent defeat” weapons to specifically neutralise chemical and biological weapons without collateral damage. The first, BLU-119/B Crashpad, comes loaded with a mix of high explosives and white phosphorus, which neutralises the chemical agent. The second, Shredder, can reach stockpiles hidden in bunkers.
