Painter nearly deported by force

Anthony Bryan, 60, a painter and decorator, who has lived in London since arriving in the UK on his brother’s passport in 1965, lost his job after receiving a letter informing him he was illegally living in the UK. Mr Bryan was threatened with deportation. Police raided his home last November and tried to put him on a flight to Jamaica. The Home Office now acknowledges he is living in the UK legally.
