Taking action in Syria

-

SIR – The bleating from some quarters about Theresa May taking the decision over Syria without a vote in Parliament (report, April 17) is ridiculous.

Most of our MPS are ordinary people without any full, inside knowledge of the situation, and these matters cannot be discussed in public. Only the Prime Minister and her close Cabinet colleagues – with advice from the security services – are in a position to make a proper judgment.

MPS generally can be divided into those who are hard-working supporters of their local communities and those who have an inflated sense of self-importance. The latter are willing to jump on any bandwagon which will gain them publicity.

There are some decisions that can only be taken by the Prime Minister. Otherwise, what’s the point in having one? Marion Draper
