Backing for water nationalisation halves
Public support for Jeremy Corbyn’s plans to nationalise the water industry has halved in the past six months, a new poll has found.
The Labour leader has put nationalising the industry at the heart of his manifesto for a snap election, and there is concern in the Conservative Party that the policy appealed to voters.
But a Comres poll commissioned by four water firms found that support for nationalisation has fallen from 83per cent to 42per cent in the past six months. It follows reports suggesting nationalising the water sector could cost £90billion.
