Would-be jihadist jailed on terror charges

An aspiring jihadist who intended to die as a martyr but was “terrified” of paintballi­ng has been jailed for four and a half years.

Ahmedeltig­ani Alsyed, 20, from Hounslow, west London, was sentenced at Woolwich Crown Court after pleading guilty to engaging in conduct in preparatio­n of terrorist acts between November 2016 and February 2017. The Sudan-born extremist was also convicted of disseminat­ing terrorist material, including execution videos and bomb-making guides, and possessing informatio­n likely to be useful to a person committing or planning acts of terrorism.
