SHOP LESS, GET MORE VARIETY FROM YOUR WARDROBE

- BY AGATHA LINTOTT

Layering. Even if I’m wearing a jumpsuit I can style it so many different ways.

Buy vintage. It’s an affordable way to look unique.

Don’t shop when you’re bored, depressed or panicked. The next time you have to replace something, look at the sustainably produced alternatives. There’s a lot of great products out there now.

Try swishing. Organised sessions when friends each bring several (choice) items they don’t wear and swap. Turn it into an evening – much more sociable than sitting alone with your laptop and a glass of wine and hitting buy.

The one year rule. If you haven’t worn it through all four seasons, you’re probably never going to.

If in doubt, challenge yourself to wear something that’s languished unworn. If you can’t get through the day without wishing you hadn’t put it on, it goes.

You need far less than you think. I have two coats (I wear a lot of heavy jumpers), eight pairs of shoes and two bags. I love them all – and I find it much easier to get dressed when I have less.

Kimonos are my idea of a basic – they make excellent dresses, coats and jackets.

Learn the difference between items you admire and items you wear. I never wear shirts for instance – I’m more of a T-shirt person.

Check out Mud jeans, entirely ethical and great styling; as well as Rafa’s vegan shoes and Lada’s suede boots, they’ve nailed the design.
