Wells Fargo agrees to pay $1bn settlement

Wells Fargo has agreed to pay a $1bn (£710m) penalty to settle allegation­s relating to car insurance and mortgage lending breaches with two US regulators. The bank agreed to settle without admitting any wrongdoing. The $1bn fine is one of the largest imposed on a major bank since Donald Trump became US president.
