-

 A 97-year-old veteran of the Battle of El Alamein and Oxford law professor ran over a child on a pedestrian crossing, a court has heard.

Tony Honoré, an honorary fellow at New College, Oxford, was found guilty of dangerous driving at Oxford magistrates’ court. The court heard he ran through a red light at midday on Feb 6, striking Ragnar Cadogan, nine, who was crossing with his mother and two siblings. The boy was not seriously hurt. Honoré failed a roadside eyesight test. He was ordered to pay £1,755 in fines and costs and was banned from driving for a year.
