SIR – Jeremy Corbyn must be tickled pink, as it were, that the Duchess of Cambridge laboured to produce another royal heir on St George’s Day, the very day he proposes as a new public holiday.

If granted his wish that April 23 should annually be “a celebration of our country’s tradition”, he can be sure it will be a right royal celebration. Sandra Miles-taylor

SIR – I am delighted that the Duchess has given birth to a baby boy, but astounded that the BBC reported the weight in pounds and ounces. This is a bad lapse by the Corporation, normally determined to bring the entire nation under the metrication thumb. Bill Soens
