Banker’s widow sues his lover over estate
A millionaire banker’s grandfather clock is at the centre of a court wrangle between his lover and his estranged wife.
Rainer Kahrmann’s widow and daughter are suing his lover after she received half of his estate by selling a flat he owned.
The banker, who died in July 2014 aged 71, left a £4.4million fortune in the UK but did not make a valid will, meaning that Christiane De Muller, his estranged wife, and his four children stand to inherit his estate.
The High Court heard that Ms De Muller is now seeking £2.2million from Hilary Harrison-morgan, Mr Kahrmann’s partner, which she received from the sale of a property he owned in Belgravia, west London.
Also in dispute are items including paintings and the grandfather clock, which Ms De Muller claims Mrs Harrison-morgan has kept for herself. However, it was reported that Mrs Harrison-morgan does not want them, claiming: “I have nowhere to put them.” The trial continues.
