Armenia set to elect new PM as protests continue
Armenia’s government will elect a new prime minister on May 1, amid protests over the Republican Party’s rule.
However, an end to the political crisis seems distant as Nikol Pashinyan, the protest leader, is locked in a battle with the ruling party but lacks enough votes to get elected to parliament. Yesterday protesters again took to the streets of the capital Yerevan.
On Monday, Serzh Sargysan stood down as prime minister after mass protests.
