Southern roots Bishops hail from one half of country

Almost 80 per cent of senior bishops are from the South. The Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, is from London and went to Eton. Bishop of London, Sarah Mullally, is from Woking. A few are northern. The Bishop of Manchester, David Walker, is a native of the city, while the Bishop of Leeds, Nicholas Baines, is Liverpudli­an.
