The nation’s Wembley
SIR – While I find it hard to believe the Football Association wants to sell the family silver it seems that, in putting Wembley Stadium up for sale (Sport, April 27), money is the attraction.
How is it that, when there is so much cash in football, the FA is unable to run its affairs profitably?
Do we really want the nation’s iconic stadium to be sold to promote an American game that few of us understand? The Government, Sport England and the London Development Agency must step in to stop this sale. Nigel Edgley
