Explosives-sniffing dogs to screen airport cargo
Explosives detection dogs have been introduced at British airports to screen cargo.
Each animal has undergone a year of training to enable them to detect minute traces of explosives, the Department for Transport said.
They are being deployed in airport cargo sheds as a quick and mobile way of screening large volumes of freight, alongside existing methods.
Baroness Sugg, the aviation minister, said: “The ability of these highly skilled dogs to detect small amounts of vapour from explosives hidden in cargo will bolster our existing rigorous security methods”
