Met Police sued by officer ‘traumatised by child abuse videos’

- By Callum Adams

A POLICE officer is suing the Met Police for £200,000, in what is thought to be the first case of its kind, after having to watch 100 child abuse videos.

Cara Creaby, 29, is seeking compensation for the “psychiatric injury” she claims to have suffered while investigating the rape of three young girls.

The officer alleges that the “harrowing and dangerous material” has left her with “intrusive flashbacks, nightmares” and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Mrs Creaby became the main point of contact in December 2014 for the girls, who were suspected of being victims of grooming and sexual abuse.

High Court legal documents seen by The Mail on Sunday claim that the officer told bosses about her workload and the effect it was having on her but that she was told to “stick to the job at hand”. Mrs Creaby was referred to occupational health in April 2015 and was signed off sick a month later.

Scotland Yard said: “A claim for damages due to psychiatric injury has been received by the Met police and it is being reviewed.”
