Dozens of pigs were killed yesterday when a lorry carrying 200 of the animals overturned at a roundabout.

Firefighters were called to the incident at Swan House roundabout on the A68 West Auckland Road, Darlington, at around 10am.

The driver was rescued from the cab and taken to hospital. His condition was unknown last night.
