Going the distance

SIR – I must disagree with the suggestion that men with flashy cars are not interested in a lasting relationship (report, May 9).

I met my husband at a party in San Francisco in 1964 and he offered me a lift home in his Porsche Speedster. When he allowed me to drive the car a few weeks later, I knew it must be love. We have been happily married for 53 years. Shirley Page
