I’m in awe of women like Eva… pregnant and still in high heels
My husband is bemused and not a little alarmed by my avid interest in Desperate Housewives actress Eva Longoria, pictured this week looking extravagantly pregnant in an all-white ensemble.
The fact I keep gazing at her, murmuring “Wow!”, misled him into fearing I was broody. Not a bit of it. It wasn’t the 43-year-old’s resplendent bump I envied but her feet.
There they were, artfully encased in the spindliest of designer sandals – just a vertiginous heel with straps – and she was actually managing to stay upright. I was reminded of the Duchess of Cambridge on the steps of the Lindo Wing hours after the arrival of Prince Louis, still impeccably shod in LK Bennett nude pumps.
Shock and awe doesn’t cover it. Did she wear them in labour? My feet went up two sizes after childbirth and have never recovered.
As Marilyn Monroe once said: “Give a girl the right shoes and she can conquer the world.” But only if she can walk in them.
