Man sacked over boat berth after wife’s death
A deputy harbourmaster was sacked two days after his wife’s funeral for berthing a boat in the wrong place.
Jeremy Butcher, 56, has been left “broken at a time when he is already vulnerable” after he was sent an email dismissing him with immediate effect while he was signed off work on compassionate leave.
Mr Butcher, a former Met Police detective sergeant who received commendations, was sacked for alleged misconduct by Yarmouth Harbour Commissioners, which he is taking to an employment tribunal.
