Panel of experts will sit on Grenfell Tower inquiry

THERESA May has bowed to demands from survivors of the Grenfell Tower fire for a panel of experts to sit alongside the judge Sir Martin Moore-bick leading the inquiry into the disaster.

It comes after warnings from Grenfell families that the inquiry would be seen as a whitewash unless a diverse panel was installed to oversee proceedings and satisfy survivors that their interests were being properly represented.

Mrs May was presented with a painting of the burnt-out Grenfell Tower with the words “Eyesore Final Straw” on it when she met some of the families yesterday.
