Stalker sent woman Van Morrison song

A stalker was sent to a psychiatric hospital after sending the object of his desires a Van Morrison song.

Ian Stewart, 49, sent Penelope Hulme, an interior designer, thousands of texts.

In February 2017, Stewart, from Wythenshawe, Manchester, was issued with a restraining order but, six days later Mrs Hulme later received 120 texts and a link to the song Have I Told You Lately by Van Morrison.

At Manchester Crown Court, Stewart admitted breaching the order but was spared jail after doctors concluded he was suffering from schizoaffective disorder.

Judge Paul Lawton sentenced Stewart under the Mental Health Act.
