Railway fined for train’s missing lavatory floor

-

A heritage railway has been fined £40,000 after a three-year-old boy almost fell through the floor of a lavatory cubicle on a train.

The South Devon Railway Trust admitted putting passengers at risk by failing to adequately bar entry to the cubicle. Anna Patch’s son narrowly escaped serious injury in June 2017 on a trip between Buckfastleigh and Totnes in Devon.

She snatched the youngster to safety with his feet inches from the moving wheels of the train exposed below.

An Office of Rail and Road (ORR) investigation discovered the entire lavatory cubicle floor had been missing for two months.
