All-you-can-eat pizza diners left hungry
♦An all-you-can-eat pizza event descended into chaos because of customers with “overzealous appetites”, organisers said.
Hungry customers complained on social media after the Notting Hill Pizza Festival in west London failed to live up to their expectations.
Bellmonte Life, described on its Facebook page as “a high-end luxury lifestyle brand providing exclusive events and experiences for its customers”, had promised guests “the opportunity to sample unlimited amounts of pizza”. It apologised for not being able to keep up with demand, blaming a broken oven and “some overzealous appetites”. It offered queuing customers free wine in compensation.
Alex White, 28, said she abandoned the festival to go to a pizza restaurant having only eaten two slices in an hour and a half. “I’m definitely annoyed,” she said. Tim Swabey, 24, said: “It was clear that they had sold hundreds of tickets without thinking about how to cook the amount of pizza needed.”
