One swallow yet to make a summer in Cornwall

-

sir – We have lived in our house in rural Cornwall for the past 40 years.

Each spring the swallows have arrived between April 10 and April 20, resulting in at least two nests and more than two broods. This year, there are no swallows.

What is going on?

Geoffrey Nute

Bodmin, Cornwall sir – Here in north Devon we still await the arrival of swallows and house martins, not only to our property but also the surrounding area. I fear that this may be the first time that they do not appear.

Have there been any sightings in the rest of the country?

Jim Montgomery

Littleham, Devon
