SIR – May I offer those poor cackhanded millennial­s this recipe for a three-tin student dinner circa 1973 (“Fray Bentos and frayed tempers as millennial­s struggle with tins”, report, May 14)?

Ingredient­s: one Fray Bentos pie, one tin of potatoes, one tin of peas.

Method: remove the labels, remove lids from tins, fire up the two-ring Baby Belling (medium heat), place pie tin on one ring, place peas and potatoes on the other. Consult book or union bar for 20 minutes. With oven gloves or thick cloth, transfer tins to table. Eat directly from tins.
