Extradition of Catalan trio to Spain ruled out
A court in Brussels has ruled against extraditing three former Catalan politicians – Toni Comin, Meritxell Serret and Lluis Puig – who fled Spain after learning they faced arrest over their roles in the regional declaration of independence in October.
The European arrest warrants were issued, dropped and then later reinstated by Spain, but they were not valid, the court ruled, saying that the reissued warrants should have been backed up by new Spanish warrants.
