Combustible cladding could still be banned
COMBUSTIBLE cladding on high-rise residential buildings could still be outlawed despite the author the Grenfell review failing to recommend a ban.
Ministers yesterday confirmed that a consultation on building regulations could result in flammable materials, such as those used on Grenfell Tower, being banned in order to deliver “meaningful and lasting change” for the survivors.
It came as Dame Judith Hackitt, the review’s author, faced claims of presiding over a “whitewash”.
Announcing a consultation yesterday, James Brokenshire, the Communities Secretary, said that a ban on “combustible materials in cladding” was on the table.
