Drama teacher told pupils to ‘hang’ themselves in class

A drama teacher was removed from a lesson after she told pupils to enact hanging themselves during a performing arts class.

The female supply teacher, who has not been named, was “sent away” from the Bourne Academy in Bournemouth, and was later relieved of her duties by the agency employing her.

Pupils claimed the teacher instructed them to throttle themselves with their school uniform ties as part of their performing arts lesson.

It is not clear if any children followed her order, however another teacher was sent to the class to take over.

Mark Avoth, principal of the mixed co-ed, said the supply teacher was “removed from the lesson as soon as we were alerted to the situation” and she would not be returning.
