Apple pays first tranche of back taxes to Ireland

Apple has transferre­d the first tranche of cash the European Commission says it owes in back taxes into an escrow account, as both Ireland and the tech giant continue to pursue appeals against the Commission ruling. Apple has paid around €1.5bn (£1.3bn) into the account. Apple has said it will have transferre­d the entire €13bn in disputed tax by the end of October.
