US calls a truce in its trade war with China
The United States has put its growing trade war with China “on hold” after the two countries agreed a deal in which Beijing will buy more American goods and services. A statement issued by the White House following a fortnight of talks said China would “significantly increase purchases” from America, “substantially reducing” the trade deficit between the two countries, while in turn it would halt tariffs.
