An egg a day may reduce the risk of heart disease
Eating an egg a day may reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, a study has suggested.
Consumption of up to one egg daily was linked with lower rates of strokes and heart disease compared to those who rarely or never ate them, according to research published in the journal Heart. Peking University scientists examined data from 416,213 participants in China over nine years.
Tim Chico, professor of cardiovascular medicine at the University of Sheffield, said the findings had to be taken with caution: “There may be other differences between the people eating more eggs that cause these differences.”
