Manchester Arena bomb documentary criticised
Ian Hopkins, chief constable of Greater Manchester Police, accused the BBC of jeopardising the investigation into the Manchester Arena attack by screening an “inaccurate” and “misleading” documentary on the anniversary of the bombing.
He said the BBC had upset the victims’ families by showing “explicit” footage of the bombing, which left 22 people dead and hundreds injured. Mr Hopkins said Manchester: The Night Of The Bomb wrongly claimed that officers were held back from the arena.
A BBC spokesman insisted the filmmakers had acted sensitively.
