Gloomy Governor

sir – Mark Carney, the Governor of the Bank of England, who says Brexit has held back the economy by 2 per cent (report, May 23), is self-justifying.

Economics is an art, not a science. If you feel Brexit is a bad thing, it will affect your projections. Less Brexitphobic projections produce markedly different results, as Roger Bootle often shows.
