Fare game
sir – As students in London in the late Sixties, having spent all we had on theatre trips (standing), we’d haunt the penny falls machines in Leicester Square waiting for change to fall out (Letters, May 23), to collect 6d for our bus fares back home. It always worked. Laura Wurzer

sir – I also once found £200 in the dispenser of an ATM in Guildford (Letters, May 23). However, I was able to reunite the money with its owner.
We discovered that, after a very cold night, the ATM was taking up to five minutes to dispense cash, and some people had walked away thinking it was not working. Hugh Foster
