Scoring for the first third and fourth of the eight sessions of the 2018 Worldwide Bridge Contest (simultaneous pairs) is complete, writes Julian Pottage, Bridge Correspondent.
In the third session, two of the top 10 pairs are British:
5th Irene Sime and David Kaye (Carlton, Edinburgh), 69.13%; and 7th Wyn Williams and Edward Jones (Colwyn Bay, North Wales), 70.63%.
In the fourth session, five of the top 12 pairs were British, including the second placed pair, who automatically qualify for the grand final in Shanghai or Sanya in October:
2nd Susan Nesbitt and Jenny Thompson (Stansfield, Suffolk), 72.16%; 3rd Pat Waters and Bernie Waters (Tunbridge Wells), 71.13%; 10th John Bloomfield and Celia Jeal (Stansfield. Suffolk), 65.77%; 11th David Arnold and Barry Moore (Broughton, Lancashire), 65.77%; and 12th Trevor Towers and David Birt (Cardiff), 65.64%.
