It was a day that gave England cricket fans little cause for cheer, but Theresa May was clearly enjoying her first match as a member of the MCC. The Prime Minister, with husband Philip to her right, chatted to Sir Michael Parkinson as Joe Root’s men laboured against Pakistan on the second day of the first Test at Lord’s. Mrs May was fast-tracked to membership of the club, avoiding a 26-year wait, supported by two of her Tory predecessors at No 10, David Cameron and Sir John Major.
