Screening for breast cancer at the supermarket
Breast screening vans are being trialled in supermarket car parks to make testing more convenient and encourage more women to get checked for the disease. The vans use technology developed by the UK Space Agency to beam the data directly to hospital experts, meaning women receive results within days. Screening vans have been trialled in branches of Sainsbury’s and Morrisons in three regions, with plans to roll out the scheme nationwide and prevent thousands of deaths from the most common cancer to affect women.
