Supermarket discounts for keeping active
Health officials are considering offering supermarket vouchers to people who meet exercise targets. Similar schemes already offered by some health insurers provide benefits like free cinema tickets or 25per cent off Ocado shops to customers who meet daily step targets. The move is part of official plans to create 10 new “healthy towns”, which will encourage exercise and healthy eating by creating environments where it is easy and safe to be active. Simon Stevens, chief executive of NHS England, said the move could “design-out” childhood obesity.
