Man killed in fall from indoor climbing wall

A man has died after falling from an indoor climbing wall. The 54-year-old was “independently using” the facilities at the Quay Climbing Centre in Exeter on Friday night when he fell and suffered a fatal head injury.

The centre said the experienced climber suffered a “tragic accident” on its roped climbing walls, and not the Clip ‘n Climb in Exeter.

Devon and Cornwall Police said the death was being treated as an accident and has yet to formally name the man.

Although he has not been named, the man’s family has been informed, the force confirmed.
