Indian Ocean hunt for vanished flight called off

A privately funded underwater search for MH370, the missing Malaysia Airlines flight, has ended in failure with Malaysia’s new government promising to release a long-awaited report into the jet’s disappearance.

The flight, carrying 239 people, vanished en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing on March 8 2014. The decision to engage Ocean Infinity, a US seabed exploration firm, came after Australia, China and Malaysia gave up on a A$200 million (£113 million) search across a 46,000 sq mile expanse of the Indian Ocean last year.
