Why Duchess was only one who could smell freshly cut grass

-

♦ When Buckingham county council heard that Meghan Markle was to stay in Taplow the night before her marriage to Prince Harry, they got out the lawnmowers and pothole filler and spruced up her route in and out of the village. However, a councillor has claimed that they neglected other scruffy verges and crumbling roads.

Cllr Dev Dhillon, who represents the local area, said the ignored overgrown verges were “dangerous” and that it was “really appalling” that the grass cutting was prioritised for the Duchess of Sussex in and around Cliveden.

But Mark Shaw, the council’s cabinet member for transport, said: “I make no apology for our contribution to such a great day, enjoyed by the nation and the world. We were only made aware that Cliveden was playing a part in the wedding plans the Monday before, so there was very little time. Any verge cutting we did was already planned. We also completed some pothole filling and supplied barriers and cones for traffic management. None of this impacted on any of the other scheduled work.”
