Thefts of luxury watches soar in London
Central London has experienced a sharp rise in thefts of luxury watches. In the first three months of 2018 alone, watches worth more than £1million were reported stolen.
Street robbers, smash-and-grab gangs and thieves on scooters are targeting fashionable brands such as Omega, Rolex, Breitling, Tag Heuer, Cartier and Patek Philippe.
An online watch register yesterday reported an increase on its database of 10,000 stolen watches in the past year – adding to the 60,000 that have accrued over the 25 years between 1990 and 2014.
