‘Boy racer’ hit-and-run kills woman

 A woman died when a hit-and-run driver ploughed a car into pedestrians in Greater Manchester.

Police were called to Trafford Park at 9.50pm on Thursday to reports that a car had hit several people.

Five people, said to be seriously hurt, were taken to hospital, while a sixth person attended hospital on their own with injuries not thought to be serious. Greater Manchester Police said a 21-year-old man had been detained on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to stop after a collision.

A blue BMW – believed to have been involved – was found in the Salford area. One witness said the incident, in Europa Way, happened while “boy racers” were taking part in a car meet.
