Dementia sufferer re-proposes to wife

-

An 86-year-old man with dementia who had forgotten he was married to his wife was inspired by the royal wedding to propose to her again.

Donald Kerr proposed to his wife, Margaret, last month as preparations for the marriage of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry took place.

Mrs Kerr, 62, arranged for the couple, who have been together for more than 20 years, to renew their vows at Brookfield Nursing Home, where Mr Kerr now lives.

Fr Peter Walsh, the priest of nearby St Andrews Church, West Kirby, Wirral, officiated at the ceremony.

He told The Daily Telegraph: “It was a lovely, happy and joyful occasion and for Donald it really woke him up, giving him a new outlook on life.”
